On March 30th Sadie Lou turned 1. It was so strange. Thinking from now on I couldn’t think “this time last year Sadie wasn’t even here.” It has gone so fast and yet I cannot really remember what it was like to not have her smiley lovely self with us. I am so glad she picked me to be her Mom and cannot wait to see what she will show and teach me next.
THe big clean up

A few weekends ago while I was flying Ken took the girls to Liberty National Park in New Jersey. He was hoping to take them on the ferry over to see the Statue of Liberty but that didn’t work out. They did have fun exploring the park and seeing the 9-11 memorial.

On St. Paddy’s Day we headed to the Beardsley Zoo. They were giving all children dress in green free admission. We couldn’t miss it!
The beginning of March we took an unexpected trip to Virginia. My Dad had gone in for a hernia operation that ended up being a whole lot more. He had 7 hernias repaired, two heart attacks, and 5 bypass surgery in three days. Needless to say we loaded up the van and headed to Roanoke. We stayed until he made it out of the hospital one week to the day after his hernia operation. Crazy how fast they discharged him.
He is doing better but it is a day by day thing. I am just so happy and feel so blessed that he is still with us.

While we were in Virginia we did get to enjoy nice warm weather for the first time in months. So we took the girls to the park and of course their first real trip to the institution that is the Roanoke Winner Stand. Oh they do do a great dog!

The last few weeks have been full of Olympics.
Ken and I love it and I think we have passed that onto Ellie. We have been DVR-ing it all and showing the best bits to Ellie. What this really means is we have been showing her ice skating and snowboarding. Those are her favorites. Ice Skating because of the pretty costumes and the fun on the ice and snowboarding because Shawn White has a “zipper” and a special heart as well.
In the spirit of the ice skaters Ellie has been wearing costumes and “ice skating” around our living room for the last two weeks.

I have to say I am a bit sad to see that it is over and I can barely wait for two more years to pass and we have the Summer Olympics in London.
Since I flew all weekend we are watching the final ceremony tonight together after dinner.
