Homeward bound? Word on the street is we might get sprung tomorrow.

Ellie was sedated for an Echo this morning. It was really cool to see her new heart. We even got to see it in 3D. While she was asleep they took out her pacing wires as well. Ellie’s happy hands tried to remove these herself last night so back they went into socks this time with cuff things to keep them on her hands.
We are now line free!!! I don’t think we will be having spaghetti for dinner anytime soon.
All of this was to see inside what everyone is seeing on the outside. She is doing really well. She looks good and is eating well, eating her dinner and part of ours. Her chest x-ray was a lot clearer and the Echo confirmed what they were expecting. Her mitral valve is a bit small. This is restricting the blood flow to the left ventricle but it looks like her body is coping with it so far. They are hoping with time that it might grow or stretch. We will be back in two weeks so Dr. Marx can check on it.
If Ellie does well tonight, we’ve been told we should be able to go home tomorrow!!!! Yay home!!! Yay Ellie being well enough to go home!!! Yay our own bed!!!!

FAB-YEEEEEWW-LUSS!!!!!! Ken your sister is right, there is no place like home!!! Especially considering you’ll be returning home after being in the hospital and experiencing the most exhausting and stressful experience of your lives! I am so happy to hear about Ellie’s wonderful progress. I can’t imagine what it must have felt like to see a new heart working in your little girl. Congratulations to Ellie, to you and to her super-talented doctors! Yay!

Yes, please let your caregivers–all of them–know how much we all appreciate their work, care and attention. Ellie’s new heart is a gift for which we will never be able to thank them enough. This little girl’s life is a blessing to us all.
Godspeed. Do a little dance and shuffle right out that door!
Oh, Happy Day!

Yowza! This is incredible news…I just hope you get to go today – and things will just seem so much more normal. I’m worried about you guys and know that you must be burned out on the night shift. Home for the Holidays ahead sounds nice.
Love you bunches, lots of kisses,
