The banding has begun…

the rubber banding that is.

As anyone who has even pregnant can attest, there comes a time when all of your pants fit except for the top button. Not really sure why the top button is so much tighter then the rest of your pant but it is. Since I have have at least 3 different sizes of clothes in my closet – due to my love of food and hate of real exercise – I have been able to still wear my pre- pregnancy pants.

I have finally gotten to the point at 13 weeks – much earlier than last time I must say – where I need to do the age old rubber band trick. You place a rubber band through the top hole of your pants and wrap it around the actual button. This allows you to wear your pants that still fit in your hips and legs much longer.

On a brighter note, I had a midwife’s appointment yesterday and I was able to hear the baby’s heart beat for the first time. I saw it last week at the ultrasound but this was the first time I actually heard it. Ellie got to hear it too, which was really cool.

If I am not mistaken, I am even beginning to feel the tale -tale flutters of the baby moving around. It is so much easier to recognize this time. Last time I mistook them for gas or my imagination, this time I know better.

There is just something so reassuring and real about the flutters and hearing the heart beat. I am actually going to have a baby and the way time has been passing by so far, before I know it.

Oh, yay!!!! I knew it! I told my mom after reading your post about all of the craziness of moving and other things that I thought you were pregnant. Congratulations to you and Ken and Ellie!
We’ll have to get all of the little ones together next summer.
    Love, Marissa

What a clever girl you are! It would have never occurred to me to make do with a simple rubber band! Humn . . . I wonder that trick will work for those of us who AREN’T pregnant, but still find that top button a little hard to connect to the button hole . . . :)
